ESTERO LEADERS TOUR NEW COMMUNITY PARK
Representatives from Estero's Council of Community Leaders, Civic Association,
Community Planning Panel, Estero Fire Rescue and the Southwest Symphony recently
toured the 41,000 square-foot Recreation/Community Building now under
construction at the site of Estero's
new 55 acre Lee County Park.
The park, located to the north of Corkscrew Road between Corkscrew Palms
Boulevard and Sandy Lane, is scheduled to open in June of next year.
Among the building's features, which include meeting rooms, computer rooms,
youth activity rooms, arts & crafts rooms and a catering kitchen, is a gymnasium
that will accommodate three full-sized basketball courts or four volleyball
courts plus seating for 900.
A large amphitheater with a 60 foot wide by 30 foot deep stage is located at the
rear of the building. The stage faces the park's central lawn which will
accommodate 2,000 persons with lawn chairs and blankets for its free
performances.
The hardhat tour was conducted for the Estero group by Barbara Manzo of Lee
County Parks & Recreation.
