Wayne Robinson stated that the presentation was a preliminary presentation. Zoning, traffic, and noise, etc issues will not be addressed. Public was in attendance for presentation.
Wal-Mart has exceeded minimum buffers adjacent to the
Vines with a 4ft. berm and 6 ft. screen wall on top of berm. Committee suggests walls to be 8 ft. (post and panel walls). Taller/larger trees to be used on berms for a better buffer.
Garden center and tire lube center will be screened on site with vegetation.
Pedestrian walks and three 12 ft. islands will lead to front of building entrance. Encouraged to have as many walkways as possible to store entrance.
Walkways could be to one side of the 12ft. space to leave one wide plant bed.
Parking lot landscaping - mix of tree sizes for a variation of height. Better site line with larger trees. Applicant has agreed to consider larger islands and review disbursement of parking spaces.
Suggestion of fountains as a foreground on left side of building before berm/buffer. Applicant agreed to review.
Landscaping species are good - height/size is an issue that needs to be addressed.
Suggestion to break up the box effect by stepping of the massing or add a smaller arcade that wraps around the North front side of the building. Addition of more arcades in the front of the building.
Eliminate the white background tile behind the left and right side of the Wal-Mart sign and change the color to a mediterranean color tile.
Move tower to the South side of the building.
Truck wells - will not be visable - per applicant.
Monument signs will be installed - entrance at Koresean and sign on the corner of 41.
Retention of water is tight. Suggestion of a fountain in front area.
Lake levels - 2 - 3 ft drop of water, suggest extra littoral plants. Front lake is most visible from 41 - needs to be landscaped accordingly.
Comment by individual in attendance - Expect no less than what Coral Springs has for a Wal-Mart, need to set precedent for Estero.
